Residents in Ho Chi Minh City contribute items, lend apartments to support anti-epidemic

From toothbrushes, fruit, rice to fans, blankets and pillows… are donated by apartment residents and then donated to field hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City.

For nearly a week now, the lobby of the New City apartment building (Thu Duc city) has been filled with fans of all sizes, blankets, pillows, candies, etc., to prepare for the field hospital No. 8 located behind the apartment. Each line updates the donation of money to buy food for doctors and patients in the isolation ward or the loan of apartments to support workers and security guards at Lexington Residence…

Each resident is willing to share their hearts and support the frontline forces fighting the epidemic and patients being treated for Covid-19.

Send meal, cool water

On the evening of July 14, 200 rice servings and 300 bottles of dragon fruit juice were carefully packed and transported to Field Hospital No. 8 (An Khanh Ward, Thu Duc City).

“Is the water delicious, brother?”, Ms. Nhu My (New City resident, delivery coordinator) quickly texted Mr. Huy (logistics department of the 8 field hospital), when the car was rolling a time.

“One round was completely smooth and asked for more. Thank you very much,” Huy announced that he had received enough rice and water to deliver.

Since two days ago, the doctors and volunteers of field hospitals No. 6, 7, 8 have received meals and cool water from the kitchen of the Mothers’ Club, Bong Gun vegetarian restaurant, .. with contributions from New City residents.

“Every time food is brought to the isolation ward, I always ask if the food is good or not? Today’s meat is salty, is there any problem with the water, so let the kitchen adjust it. Fortunately, everyone complimented me on how delicious it was, which made me happy, “said My.

Ms. Nhu My said it was quite difficult for everyone to prepare more than 500 servings of rice and 1,000 bottles of water every day during a time when food was scarce.

Therefore, people have connected many kitchens to proactively supply and diversify food. In addition, residents here also contribute essentials to patients undergoing Covid-19 treatment so that they can have more spirits.

“At the heart of many”

Not only New City, residents in other apartments also enthusiastically responded to the call from the management board, “saving small and big” to support doctors and patients in the isolation area.

– “From a little to a lot, to share a little love in difficult times”, Mr. Phan Long messaged, with a picture of a transfer of VND 500,000.

– “Contributing the wind to become a storm to win the epidemic”, Ms. Ho Vinh sent 300,000 VND. Those are two of the many words that Ms. Van Anh (Administration of Lexington Residence, Thu Duc City) received when calling for donations in cash and in kind to field hospitals.

The hearts of not only residents but also friends and relatives from other places have moved in.

Less than 24 hours of calling, Ms. Van Anh received an amount of 47 million VND plus many artifacts. The first packages were quickly delivered at Field Hospital No. 3, on the afternoon of July 13.

As the person who directly received milk, fruit, etc. from Lexington Residence residents, Mr. Nguyen Trong Thu (Head of Nursing Department of Field Hospital No. 3) said he was very touched by everyone’s love.

According to Mr. Trong Thu, the hospital currently has about 200 doctors and volunteers taking care of 2,000 F0 patients. The doctors and nurses will share the food received with the patients so that they do not feel helpless, have more health to overcome disease.

Right in the afternoon of July 14, the second shipment from Lexington Residence continued to be taken to field hospitals No. 3 and No. 6. This time, 200 kg of rambutans were transported from a garden house in Dong Nai.

Besides, there are also toothpaste, instant noodles, coffee donated by residents. The management board of this apartment building also plans to source masks, protective suits, needles, etc. to strengthen the medical team in the coming days.

Let security guards, laborers borrow shelter

During the days when Ho Chi Minh City implemented the distance according to Directive 16, some apartments asked all staff of the management, sanitation, technical, and security departments to stay in the building to ensure epidemic prevention.

Upon receiving the notice, this force became confused because of the lack of cooking utensils, shelter and laundry.

In times of urgency, the Lexington Residence Apartment Management Board invites residents who want to borrow or rent a 3-bedroom apartment for everyone to stay and work.

“If you have fans, mats or yoga mats, you can’t use them, please let them know. Those who lend need to write down the name and number of the apartment so that we can clean and return it after use”, Ms. Van Anh informed by email to all residents.

On the evening of July 14, about 60 people were able to stay safely at Lexington Residence on the first night of having to work at the apartment. Workers “stuck” at the apartment building take advantage of community rooms, gyms, common areas and apartments lent by residents to live. Pillows, electric fans are also fully supplied to make them feel at home.

“Thank you, brothers and sisters. The residents of Lexington Residence are wonderful,” said Ms. Van Anh.

In the groups of Masteri Thao Dien apartment buildings, Vinhomes Central Park, the Management Board and residents are also discussing to contribute to the anti-epidemic support force.
